Queenstown - New Zealand

QUEENSTOWN

Queenstown is the heart of what has always been considered to be New Zealands premier ski region. From here you can easily ski three great areas: Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Cardrona. The Snow Park is also an option and while some 90kms away, Treble Cone is another great ski area that can also be skied from Queenstown. This wide choice, combined with the spectacular mountain scenery and the enormous variety of activities and nightlife found in Queenstown make it one of the most exciting holiday destinations and ski resorts in the Southern Hemisphere.

Coronet Peak

CORONET PEAK

Queentown’s original resort ski area is just 25 minutes from town. With a reputation for some of the best and varied terrain in Australasia it is no wonder that Coronet Peak has developed a truly international flavour. Coronet Peak hosts high profile events such as The Queenstown Winter Festival and the 50K of Coronet Peak.

Coronet Peak’s wide and rolling terrain provides maximum fun for all. Extensive snowmaking ensures that everyone can get the utmost enjoyment for the longest time possible. An award-winning ski and snowboard school will set you up or hone your skills, allowing you to maximise your enjoyment and time on the slopes.

Even when the sun goes down, the action never stops – Night Skiing, exclusive to Coronet Peak, allows skiers and riders to continue through the twilight hours into the magic of the night.

The Remarkables Map

THE REMARKABLES

The Remarkables is Queenstown's true alpine ski area. Here the emphasis is definitely on joining in and having fun, especially if you're a beginner, intermediate or looking for serious adrenaline. The Remarkables enjoys three sunny sheltered bowls framed by towering peaks, and is known for its friendly atmosphere and relaxed feel.

It's a great place to learn to ski with easy access to learner runs by an easy to use chairlift. And if you're ready to sample life on the edge, you'll find challenging terrain like you've never seen before and some of the longest off-piste runs around. Kids are well catered for and kids 10 years and under get a free day lift pass. In fact after a day of fun at Skiwiland or in the creche they may never want to go home again.

Whatever you choose, The Remarkables is the ideal place to make the most of winter's offerings. For small kids and big kids alike, check out the new tubing park for great fun in the snow!

Cardrona Map

CARDRONA

Higher, drier, naturally better. Located between Wanaka and Queenstown with a base elevation of 1670m above sea level, Cardrona is higher, colder and renowned for dry natural snow and wide, open slopes.

Cardrona is a great place for learners with 3 magic carpet lifts, a platter lift and a beginner quad chair. It’s also a favourite with families, providing complete solutions for children from 3 months to 12 years in three purpose-built facitilites.

Cardrona's halfpipes, gravity cross course and terrain park trails make it a popular playground with freestyle skiers and boarders. These facilities host a number of national and international events throughout the season. The resort opens on the 24th of June and operates until the 9th of October.

Treble Cone

TREBLE CONE

Spread over three large basins there are trails to suit all ages and skill levels. From the purpose-built learner area with a Magic Carpet Lift, to comfortable, groomed green and blue runs, through challenging black runs and secret powder stashes, Treble Cone has great terrain for all levels of ability. The learners area with snowmaking facilities is located near the base building, the wide, gentle slope has an easy gradient and is groomed every night. This is serviced by an easy-to-use platter lift. Two trails - 'Triple Treat' (3.5km) and 'Main Street' (2km) - provide long, well-groomed slopes for beginners and intermediates along with many other groomed runs. Earthworks over Summer 2005 have created a NEW Upper High Street which now extend Treble Cones longest groomed run to 4.5km. These runs are all serviced by either the high-speed six-seater detachable chairlift or NEW quad chairlift. Treble Cone offers more intermediate and advanced terrain than any other South island ski area with off-piste powder skiing and boarding unrivalled. Treble Cone continues to offer the greatest freeriding terrain in the region for snowboarders. There are natural half pipes on the upper mountain and a terrain park is built each year.
