or bemo, and most Balinese will know where they are.
There are several different locations to offer the discerning traveller or surfer
in Bali. Bali has surf year round regardless of where you are staying or surfing.
Kuta Beach is the main beach in Bali and is usually crowded,
but normally there are plenty of good banks around.
Ungasan (Green Balls) is on the south coast of Bali and
around 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Kuta. This south coast area has high cliffs, ocean vistas and
big swells. And a 5 star resort guaranteed to make you feel like a king ... don't worry though - the rates are
reasonable, and the view is fantastic! This area of Bali can be surfed anytime of the year provided there is
a northerly wind or no wind at all - you do need to get there early to avoid onshore winds. The peninsula is
fringed with reefs and does get big swells - watch for currents especially when the tide is on it's way out.
Definitely an area you want to surf with a friend.
Sanur has the potential to satisfy anyone. Essentially
a sleepy fishing village, Sanur is great for evening walks browsing through the many shops and markets without
the frantic activity of Kuta or Legian. A broad range of accommodation is available from intimate boutique hotels
to sprawling International Resorts. The beach is sheltered from the surf by a coral reef creating a lazy lagoon,
perfect for children & families. In Sanur there are 2 main reef breaks and a few beach breaks
Nusa Dua is known internationally as the premier resort
area of Bali, and is situated only 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Kuta or the airport. Nusa Dua has
luxurious accommodation and a collection of fashion boutiques, speciality shops and restaurants. There are 2
main reef breaks in Nusa Dua.
Uluwatu is located on the most southwest tip of Bali characterized
by limestone cliff surrounded by sea. The island is mostly filled by teak forest where a small colony of little
monkey lives. Uluwatu is not only famous for its magnificent sight but also for its most challenging and legendary
surf breaks in the world. Whether you choose to stay out at Uluwatu or visit for the day, this area is a must
for all surfers who travel to Bali - whether it be to watch the sunset over the temple, or to surf one of the
most legendary surf spots talked about today. The Uluwatu coastline hosts some of the best surf spots in the
world for the more advanced surfer. Not only do you have the breaks of Uluwatu, but easy access to the other
5 or so breaks along this coastline.
