In all there are about 1200 islands, innumerable sandbanks and countless reefs. You can relax at one of the resorts, surfing breaks right out the front, or explore the atolls by boat in search of perfect Maldives barrels - or both.

The Maldives has two monsoons - either November to April and May to October, and the best surf season is during the later, from March to November. During June and July the weather is often unsettled, and during December-January, there is little swell and easterly, onshore winds. The best months for conditions are from March to mid-November, and the best months for swell are from April to October, although large swells are very rare.

Weather: Climate in the Maldives is equatorial, since they sit 3-5 degrees north of the equator - So you can expect humid, hot, and sometimes rainy conditions... these will vary depending on the time of year you travel. The climate of the Maldives is hot through the year and is determined by the monsoons, although the monsoons are quite mild and not as strong as neighbouring countries. There are 2 distinct seasons in the Maldives - the wet season and the dry season. The wet season is usually from May to October and the dry season from November to April. Of these months, June and July tend to be the wettest. Water temperatures remain at around 27 degrees Celsius year round.
